To Hell with our Tongues…

In my spiritual endeavour I have come to recognise two things:

The orthodox Churches have compartmentalised Christianity while the Charismatic Churches havesentimentalised Christianity….

One says structure should be God made and implemented by God on earth, so that man is a vessel and can only do as the spirit tells him without an ability to control it when the spirit is moving. So that there is not an urgency in putting together a structured mode of worship that is executed by man.

The other says man should use the wisdom God has given him to structure the way He is worshipped. So that, church activities, should be predetermined and strictly auctioned with an appropriate order of service that should be strictly adhered to and consequently mostly giving no heed to the ”voice” of the spirit (assumably).

In my opinion, the things that we do in the church as a physical structure or body are mostly rituals that are meant to make the act of worship very easy while keeping us in touch with our maker. They are also some times symbols to remind us about the acts of God on earth and His very nature, which is deserving of TOTAL REVERENCE.

That is the reason why Jesus in diagnosing peoples religious issues always reffered them to practical and horizontal (relationship with fellow men) ways to make a testament on their true worship of God.

One key thing that Christ taught concerning His word and True worship of God is Loving your neighbour as you love yourself. Matthew 22:39 [NIV (©1984)]And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

The bible even says if you speak in toungues and you have no love, you are like a sounding gong (1st Corinthians 13:1 [New Living Translation (©2007)] If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.). So how on earth do we Christians think that, true worship of God is made evident in physical Exercises (PE) or activities and sounds of men in the church auditorium, field or a secret cave or mountain? Those things help but they would not guarantee us the ultimate which is the needed intimancy with God which leads to SALVATION*. If doing these things make you feel closer to God, without a corresponding better relationship with your brother or sister, family or foe, then may be you are only infatuated about the concept of God or perhaps you are only being sentimental.

I believe the greatest way to love God, to show God that you truly are connected to Him is to do unto others what God would do unto them. Or to put it another way, DO unto others what you would do to God. Matthew 7:12  [New American Standard Bible (©1995)]“In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

He says whatsoever you do to the least of these of my brothers that you do onto me.

Matthew 25:40 [New Living Translation (©2007)]

“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!
